Multimodality in storytelling — A Reflection

Firstly, I found the mediums in which to express multimodality very interesting and expressing, I was able to gain insights from individuals and interact with others on the basis of my content produced. I feel that interaction is a vital part to a successful blog, and although being a small blog with little interaction, it was beneficial to me to learn how it works.

Secondly, I found Twitter to be the most engaging platform, where communication and gathering and output of information was most effective. Although twitter is primarily a text platform, the effectiveness of output proved greater for me through the use of hashtags and ease of discussion with tags and ‘@’ where accounts can be easily interlinked and viewed with ease.

Furthermore, I found Instagram to be the least beneficial site. Although Instagram does indeed look very aesthetic, it seemed difficult to create discussion and drive interest to a blog. In reflection, more should of perhaps been done on my behalf in an attempt to engage with the audience to draw more people in.

In terms of knowledge and expertise gained, I have become more aware at actually how difficult it is to self-promote. There is a fine line between positive and negative self-promotion, with the latter coming across as ‘needy’ at times. It can be difficult to entice people without crossing the line where you feel like you are forcing people to click a link. I found that adding a question to the title of a post sharing a blog may work better as it tells the consumer what it is, what the blogs about, while not giving too much away.

I have also learned how to be creative in content output, how to entice audiences to texts, and how to create meaningful content that is hopefully of interest to others, while most importantly sitting in well within the realms of your own creativity and morals.

Conclusively, microblogging can clearly be a very effecting from of marketing, and a very effective output and creator of discussion.
